Sam Nano is a highly experienced executive with over three decades of leadership in the senior living and hospitality industries. Throughout his career, he has managed complex food and beverage operations, overseeing budgets as large as $35 million. Sam’s expertise spans profit and loss management, multi-unit operations, regulatory compliance, and team leadership. He is known for his ability to build and mentor strong teams, develop service and training standards, and enhance resident and guest satisfaction.
Currently, as the Director of Culinary Arts and Services at The Mather in Evanston, Illinois, Sam leads the culinary operations for multiple dining venues, including life care services. Under his leadership, he has successfully increased resident satisfaction and revenue through innovative initiatives such as themed dinners and happy hours. His previous roles include serving as the Food and Beverage Director at Kenwood by Senior Star in Cincinnati, where he improved operational efficiency and resident engagement.
As the Corporate Director of Food and Beverage for VI (formerly Classic Residence by Hyatt), Sam managed dining services across 10 communities nationwide. He played a pivotal role in standardizing practices, implementing corporate training programs, and negotiating key contracts, including the creation of a private wine label. Sam has also held various leadership positions in other prestigious organizations, consistently delivering exceptional results.
Sam is a certified dietary manager and holds numerous certifications from the Culinary Institute of America and the American Hotel & Lodging Association. His commitment to excellence and passion for creating memorable dining experiences have made him a respected leader in the industry.
